What changes the price of a tattoo
- Size: bigger designs take longer to tattoo.
- Detail and style: realism, portraits and fine shading take more time than simple linework.
- Colour: full colour usually takes longer than black and grey.
- Placement: ribs, hands, feet and necks are harder to tattoo and can take longer.
- Custom design work: an original design drawn for you takes time before the session too.
- Cover-ups: hiding an old tattoo needs careful planning and denser work.
Why we don’t charge per square inch
Two tattoos of the same size can take very different amounts of time. A simple outline and a detailed portrait shouldn’t cost the same. We look at your design and give you a clear estimate before you book, so there are no surprises.
Is a cheaper tattoo worth it?
A tattoo stays with you for life, so hygiene and skill matter more than saving a little money. Check that the studio uses single-use needles, opens them in front of you, and has a portfolio of healed work and real reviews. Fixing a poor tattoo later with a cover-up or laser almost always costs more.
